Users' Guides Textbooks and CD-ROM

JAMA and Archives Journals, the Evidence-Based Medicine Working Group (EBMWG) and the Centre for Health Evidence (CHE) have collaborated to produce the Users' Guides to the Medical Literature: A Manual for Evidence-Based Clinical Practice textbook, edited by Gordon Guyatt and Drummond Rennie. This is an entirely new rendering of the JAMA Users' Guides series that is currently housed on the CHE Web site.

The same team has collaborated to produce the Users’ Guides on CD-ROM, adding Robert Hayward as editor of electronic products. The core content of the Users’ Guides book is rendered to a format suitable for viewing, browsing and searching on personal computers. The Users’ Guides content is organized, classified and coded to support electronic outlining, index searching, and full-text searching. All illustrations and tables are in a form suitable for electronic display and there is a consistent navigational, iconographic and graphical interface. Footnotes, citations to the literature and links to terms in an evidence-based glossary are hyperlinked to the Users’ Guides content.

The manual for every physician.

Users' Guides to the Medical Literature: A Manual for Evidence-Based Clinical Practice

The definitive tome for those who want more, A Manual for Evidence-Based Clinical Practice presents the sophisticated concepts of evidence-based medicine (EBM) in unique ways that can be used to determine diagnosis, decide optimal therapy, and predict prognosis. It also offers in-depth expansion of methodology, statistics, and cost issues that emerge in medical research. All topics introduced in Part One are cross-referenced and linked to expanded coverage of the same topics in Part Two, and each section is self-contained to facilitate quick reference to all the information you need. The CD-ROM, edited by Dr Robert Hayward, enables an intuitive, nonlinear learning experience in coordination with the text.
